Podcasts! I’m a big fan of podcasts and I listen to them a bunch when I travel and workout. I tend to lean towards some comedic ones, but I definitely like to check out musically based podcasts and I want to share those with you in this post. Some of these are directly related to drums, others to music business, and others to songs and songwriting. Maybe you will find a couple that you enjoy.

The Worship Drummer podcast focuses on christian drummers in the church scene.
The three NPR podcasts that focus on music are:
For songwriting, these two podcasts are pretty great.
Based out of the UK, the Sodajerker podcast is interviews some of the world’s best songwriters from the songwriting team of Simon Barber and Brian O’Connor.
Song Exploder is a podcast where musicians take apart their songs piece by piece and explain how they were made and the influences in the creative process.
The Future of What focuses on the business end of music and the recording industry.
The DIY Musician Podcast is perfect for the independent artist. This podcast features interviews, tips and other useful information for the musician doing it on their own. (It’s also hosted by a couple of personal friends Kevin Breuner and Chris Robley who have an accompanying blog).
Lastly, the Fizzle Show is a podcast for the entrepreneur and small business owner. While this podcast isn’t a musical one, it definitely covers all the aspects of starting or running a business on your own.
Good luck and happy listening!
